Reading
At Davis, our teachers teach foundational reading skills through a scientifically-proven reading program called SIPPS. The SIPPS program allows our staff to assess every student to pinpoint their current reading level, and then to provide instruction in small groups that builds their skills, step by step. Students work in developing the building blocks of reading through phonological awareness and phonics, to reading fluently for comprehension. Our time block for teaching reading is held sacred, taught every school day, with the goal that by 3rd grade, all students are reading on grade level or above.
